We are proud to announce that NHAZCA has been selected for the framework contract dedicated to the validation of the European Ground Motion Service (EGMS), one of the most strategic components of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service. The assignment covers four production cycles (2024–2027) and recognises NHAZCA’s expertise in ground motion monitoring, satellite InSAR data processing and Earth Observation technologies.

This capability is backed by more than 15 years of experience in processing and interpreting interferometric data. NHAZCA pioneered the use of InSAR technology to measure even the smallest terrain deformations with millimetre accuracy. Our know‑how has been refined through hundreds of projects monitoring land, infrastructure and natural or anthropogenic risks.

Our mission is to turn research into operational tools. We develop natural hazard monitoring solutions by integrating satellite InSAR/DInSAR, PhotoMonitoring™ and ground‑based instrumentation. Selection for EGMS also stems from our leadership in coordinating validation of the Italian IRIDE Ground Service, underscoring the company’s scientific and operational strength. This achievement consolidates NHAZCA’s role as an international reference player in the development and validation of advanced geospatial solutions.

The contract includes advanced scientific validation activities designed to guarantee the reliability of the EGMS service. Our work will focus on:

  • accuracy of ground deformation estimates;
  • consistency across multi‑temporal and multi‑source datasets;
  • robustness of products derived from InSAR techniques;
  • overall quality of information services provided at European scale.

These activities ensure that satellite data used by institutions, researchers and decision‑makers are robust, comparable and scientifically validated.

NHAZCA coordinates a highly qualified international consortium, bringing together leading scientific, engineering and technological expertise: CERI – Sapienza University of Rome, ALSO Space, Faculty of Geo‑Information Science and Earth Observation (University of Twente), INGV – National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, insar.sk, Planetek Italia and Terradue. Collaboration between these partners provides an ecosystem of expertise essential for ensuring quality and reliability.
