We are proud to announce that, although still underway, the main objectives of the NARCISSUS project have already been achieved thanks to our exceptional, dedicated team!
The NARCISSUS project, which focuses on Hydrogeological Risk Monitoring via Satellite using Soil Moisture Spectroscopic Measurement, is an Italian research initiative funded by the Lazio Region, aimed at the prevention and management of natural hazards.
Through extensive testing and experimentation, particularly by comparing SAR data from Sentinel-1 with optical data from Prisma, our team succeeded in obtaining reliable soil moisture estimates.
One of the primary challenges was defining an area from which homogeneous data could be extracted to ensure efficient comparisons. Managing image inconsistencies in terms of pixel resolution was also complex. However, our team once again rose to the challenge!
The ultimate goal of the NARCISSUS project is to develop a more accurate tool for hydrogeological risk assessment. Given NHAZCA’s natural commitment to research, we are proud to have contributed to this important initiative!
